Gregg Rickman was one of the early members of the legendary Uncle Jam, the free newspaper covering Health, Books, The Arts and Travel that was published by Phil Yeh from 1973 to 1991 for Southern California. Rickman covered film like no one ever since and later became a Film Professor at San Francisco State. He also interviewed a number of actors, directors and writers in his years with Uncle Jam including some incredibly rare interviews with the late Science Fiction master Philip K. Dick. After the interviews were published in Uncle Jam, Rickman asked Yeh to publish a series of books on the author.
Thus began a long and winding road for this series. Philip K. Dick said this in a letter to Gregg, shortly before he died in 1982: "One day I'll be gone and you'll be there writing away, and how I'm remembered and thought of will (I am convinced) depend a great deal on how YOU specifically see me."
Phil Yeh designed the abstract covers for the series, which give the books a unique look, fitting for this most unique author.
Philip K. Dick's work has inspired a number of films, including Blade Runner, Total Recall, and the current Keanu Reeves film A Scanner Darkly. The diversity of his fans spans the globe and P. K. Dick continues to be one of the most influential writers of the 20th century.
